Creative Miming is an authoritative volume which describes in words and line drawings how bodily movements are transformed into interpretive purposes which are both expressive and artistically satisfying. The author has had long experience of teaching mime and in this lucid exposition she deals with relaxation, co-ordination, balance, gesture, improvisation and presentation. She deals also with Mime and Man; Mime as an Aid to the Teaching of Specific Subjects; Mime in the Amateur Theatre; Mime as an Integral Factor in the Evolution of Dramatic and Theatrical Entertainment in the Older Tradition of the Theatre; Mime as an Instrument of Exposition and Expression.

The subject is first introduced in its historical perspective and then treated from every important mimetic angle. Each principle is clearly stated and is accompanied by basic exercises cleverly designed to be practical and comprehensive. Numerous illustrations, appositely placed in the text for easy reference, depict in line each movement the author describes in words.

In Creative Miming Gwenda Sayre has written a book of the first practical importance.
