". . . Pantomime, as you have never seen it before. A virtuoso, ingenious approach to an old art that reminds one of the complexity and deceitfully childlike simplicity of the great Swiss artist Paul Klee. Like Klee, Mummenschanz sets the punchlines with humor, economical gesture, and a philosophical undertone." New York Times, October 29, 1973. "Ribbons whirled in midair and appeared to be messages in a magical sky-writing perhaps only Harry Potter could decipher." New York Times, December 23, 2000. Between these two quotations lies nearly three decades of theatre historyinvented and arranged by three artists who, in 1972, pledged themselves to an experiment: Floriana Frassetto, Bernie Schürch and Andres Bossard created the theatre company Mummenschanz. Michel Bührer's book of pictures appeared for the first time 1984. Due to numerous inquiries, the publisher decided to reprint an unaltered reproduction of the first Mummenschanz book of picturesas if it were a historical document. The book shows the beginnings of the legendary troupe up to their sensational breakthrough on Broadway. Illustrated with over 150 photos. (Approx. 128 p.)
