Actions Speak Louder: A Workbook for Actors by Bari Rolfe |
|||
Actions Speak Louder is directed to actors and teachers of acting who may or may not have any specialized movement skills but who want to add a larger component of meaningful movement to their acting or teaching techniques. It is also directed to mimes who teach actors. The silent exercises are not pantomime or substitutes for spoken words, but are meant to enlarge actors' physical vocabularies and expressive movement skills. Besides the need for the actor's body to be flexible, coordinated, centered, etc., it must also be capable of expressing the internal life of character, to utilize meaningful movement, to find physicalization of intentions, and the ability to play big.
